WHPA Summer Meeting with Minnesota Beekeepers July 11-13, 2024 at DoubleTree Hilton in St. Paul, MN
The WHPA Summer Meeting will be held together with the Minnesota Honey Producers Association at the DoubleTree Hilton in St. Paul, MN July 11-13, 2024. Speakers include Mike Simone-Finstrom and Mike Goblirsch. The event also features a special tour of the U of MN Bee Lab on Friday evening July 12th. WI Honey Queen Sadie Goettl, Battle at the Border Honey Tasting Contest and more!

4-H Essay Contest on Varietal Honey
The Foundation for the Preservation of Honey Bees has announced the topic for their 2024 National 4-H Beekeeping Essay Competition: “Varietal Honeys” This 4-H Essay Contest is open to active 4-H Club members only. Contact your local 4-H Office for more information.
2024 WI Honey Queen Crowned
The Wisconsin Honey Producers Association is proud to announce Sadie Goettl of Berlin, Wisconsin was selected as the 2024 Wisconsin Honey Queen.
Pam Jahnke Receives Lee Heine Good People Award
The WHPA named Pam Jahnke, “The Fabulous Farm Babe” from the Midwest Farm Report as the inaugural recipient of the Lee Heine Good People Award.
2024 WHPA Youth Scholarship Program Accepting Applications
Now in its 5th year, the Wisconsin Honey Producers Association announces the application period for the Youth Beekeeper Scholarship Program. Selected applicants are awarded a 2-year scholarship that will include a complete 10-frame hive kit, equipment, and a 3lb. package or a nucleus colony of live honey bees. Mentors are needed for the scholarship recipients.
2023 Beekeeper of the Year, Elizabeth Renstrom
Elizabeth Renstrom was honored as the 2023 Beekeeper of the Year by the Wisconsin Honey Producers Association. Renstrom champions the honey and beekeeping industry in every aspect of her work with local, state, and national beekeeping organizations.
Clifford Patz Honored with Pioneer Award
Clifford Patz of Pound, WI is the recipient of the 2023 Pioneer Award – a “lifetime achievement” award. It is given each year to a member who has shown an unparalleled level of passion and commitment for the WHPA and our industry over the course of their career.
WHPA Announces The Lee Heine ‘Good People’ Award
The Wisconsin Honey Producers Association is proud to announce a new national award entitled, the Lee Heine ‘Good People’ Award in honor of Lee Heine, a longtime friend and leader in the beekeeping industry who passed away in 2021 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. With Lee’s passing, we lost a significant figure; a friend who not only kept bees, but one who connected with many about bees, honey, and the advancement of the beekeeping industry.
