State of Wisconsin Taking Applications for Apiary Inspector

DATCP's Division of Agricultural Resource Management is seeking to fill a Limited Term Employment vacancy for an Apiary Inspector. The Division works with the beekeeping industry to check for honeybee pests and diseases and  certifies colonies leaving the state and checks incoming bee colonies. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience as a beekeeper or will possess knowledge of apiculture and bee management.Position will be home-based, preferably out of southeastern Wisconsin. The deadline to apply is March 1st.

"Why are Bees Important to Wisconsin Agriculture?" Essay Contest

Wisconsin Ag in the Classroom offers an annual essay contest for fourth and fifth grade students. Each year the topic has specific lesson plans, activities and other resources that teachers and home school parents can use to teach about Wisconsin agriculture. The 2014-2015 topic is “Why are bees important to Wisconsin agriculture?” This year’s contest will be sponsored by Frontier Servco FS, We Energies and the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Foundation.
